Extract-FEM-report; how we do it.
FE models are nowadays very detailed models. Compression and shear panels are generally modeled with more than one element. To calculate the applied stress for buckling the average stress needs to be taken for all elements in that panel. The average stress is calculated dependent on the element size and number of elements per panel.
Extract-FEM-report is a program that extracts sorts the stresses per element and per group of elements. It can easily be extended by a module to check the panels for buckling. However, these extensions depend on the regulations that are applicable. The following flow chart explains how it works:
